DYLAN BUNCH

5-29-2008

Hello Everyone,

Just wanted to let all of you know that I just got the internet to send messages. I can recieve but haven't been able to send. It has been so frustrating not being able to let you all know about Dylan's surgery. The surgery on Tuesday lasted about 12 hours. The surgons were able to do everything they wanted and then some. Dylan looks great. He is swelled quite a bit but you can already tell a huge difference. He hasn't felt real well but he did get a good night rest last night and seems to be happier and more himself today. Dylan is having trouble eating and drinking and that is expected. As the swelling goes down that should get better. He is just very interested in watching Thomas the Train right now. That is what is getting him through his days. We were moved from the intensive care unit last night into a room on the 10th floor. We are in room 5. All of the nurses remember Dylan and were very happy to see him. He gets great care from them and they just love him.
Hope you all have a great week. Thanks for all your thoughts and prayers.

Johnny, Susan and Dylan

I am very sorry for such a delay since the last update.  Things have kind of slowed down since his hand surgery in January and we have had a little break.  It has been great.  Dylan has been going to hand therapy only once every two weeks because of a little three year old attitude that he now has.  Dr. Cheng (hand surgeon) thought it would be best to back off a little since we were going twice a week.  It seems to have helped, he is tolerating therapy much better now.  Dylan was just burned out, we had been going two and three times a week for almost a year.

So, we have a big date coming up.  May 27th Dylan will have facial reanimation surgery at Children's Hospital in St. Louis.  This will be a huge surgery that we are not looking forward to.  We will be in the hospital for a minimum of 14 days.  It is so hard to put him through this when he is doing so well, but we know that it has to be done.  Thank God he is still so little and won’t remember it.  We will keep you all updated in the days after his surgery.  Please keep him in your prayers.
