Mercury Racing is know worldwide for its leadership in powerboat
racing and production of high performance consumer and racing
marine products, including outboards, stern drives, propellers,
parts and accessories using leading edge technology.
Mercury Racing promotes Mercury Marine products by winning more
powerboat races and setting more records world-wide than any
other marine engine manufacturer. Mercury Racing is in the business
of providing high performance marine propulsion systems to discriminating
boaters worldwide for an exciting and fulfilling power boating
experience.
Those discerning buyers looking for the ultimate power-to-weight
advantage of Mercury's OptiMax low-emissions two-stroke technology
turn to Mercury racing. Our Lightweight, high power OptiMax XS
series engines were designed for use on high performance Vee-bottom
and catamaran sport boats, flats boats, bass boats, walleye boats
and offshore center consoles.
The Mercury Racing OptiMax 200 XS continues to demonstrate the
extended operating range and durability of Mercury's two-cycle,
direct fuel injection, low-emissions technology, without sacrificing
the performance expected from a Mercury racing outboard.
The newest member of the Mercury Racing's OptiMax family is
the 225 Sport XS. Based on the popular OptiMax 225 Pro XS, the
225 Sport XS comes equipped with solid upper and lower mounts
and the race-proven 1.62:1 Sport Master gear case, making this
outboard capable of powering a single engine, Lightweight hull
to speeds in excess of 85 MPH. In June, 2005 the "Sport
XS" configuration bested the Yamaha 225 HDPI and Evenrude
E-Tec 225 HO in all categories at the 225 shoot-out.

The OptiMax 250XS has redefined the term "Performance outboard." Though
the world's fastest low emission two-stroke outboard has set
world straightaway speed records, it is better known for its
durability and fuel economy than it's flat out speed. In recent
independent tests, the 250XS outperformed the Yamaha 300 HPDI
low-emissions outboard in acceleration, top speed and fuel economy.
The OptiMax 250XS also won Bass & Walleye Boats Magazine
250 Walleye Shootout, for details see the Bass and Walleye Boats
Magazine issue dated August 2006.
The all-new OptiMax 300XS outboard continues our
heritage of delivering more power and performance than competitors
with the same horsepower rating. The heart of the new 300XS "Stroker" is
a 3.2 Liter V-6 power head featuring a stroked and perecision-ballanced
crankshaft for maximum power and Performance. A dampener ensures
smooth running throughout the engine operating range. New pistons
feature an updated profile and composite coating for improved
wear life. Piston ring life is doubled thanks to a composite
chrome coating. The exhaust port, combustion chamber and fuel
induction designs are direct descendants from out Formula 1 tunnel
boat race engine. Airflow through the reed block fuel induction
system is enhanced due to an enhanced air box design along with
thinner reed material and unique reed shape developed for Formula
1 racing.
As with the complete line of Mercury Racing OptiMax XS outboards,
the 300XS comes with a heavy-duty direct fuel injection air oppressors
featuring robust maxi-coated mounting brackets and hardware for
enhanced compressor durability and reliability.
For those of you who are looking for that tunnel race outboard
- look towards Mercury Racing's high revving Champ and OptiMax
200XS SST race outboards that take mortorsports to another extreme
-powering lightweight tunnel race boats to speeds in excess of
100 mph as they race across the water on a cushion of air.
The 2.5 Liter Mercury Champ race outboard is the premier power
for the champ Boat Series outboard tunnel boat racing circuit.
The compact engine spins 8600 rpm to power Champ class tunnel
boats to speeds in excess of 130 mph! It has won the grueling
24 hours of Rouen endurance powerboat race in Rouen, France more
times than all other outboard competitors combined.
